Our Adult Martial Arts program is definitely not your typical karate school adult training. It's not a sport-oriented program, and it's not a repackaging of "kiddie karate." Instead, we focus on the traditional martial arts areas of self-defense and self-improvement.
Teens and adults train separately from the children so we can keep the classes challenging, intense, and adult oriented. At the same time, even though we train hard, you won't be intimidated or brutalized. Our classes are a fun way to get fit, learn self defense, and build self-confidence.
- Traditional Martial Arts -- we build a base foundation in traditional Taekwondo (or Tae Kwon Do or "Korean Karate"), and incorporate elements of other martial arts, such as kickboxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, so our students train for all combat ranges.
- Physical Fitness -- all classes contain activities specifically designed to build martial arts ("fighting") fitness, with a heavy emphasis on interval (or Tabata) training.
- Self Defense -- our approach to self defense combines concepts from krav maga, vee arnis jitsu, and police defensive tactics. We teach the entire spectrum of self defense, including awareness and avoidance techniques, and keep the training as "alive" as possible by periodically engaging in realistic scenarios off the mat.

Testimonials!
My mom and dad were getting a divorce, and I did not have much self-esteem. I did not feel like I could do anything right. Mom brought me to take an introductory martial arts class at SMA. I really loved it, so when my mom asked me if I wanted to continue I said yes. I have loved every minute that I have been at SMA.
